Silvia is a researcher at Ada, contributing to the research on the use of algorithmic decision-making (ADM) systems in local and central government and trying to understand how different functions of the state are changing due to their being mediated by data-intensive technologies. She has been working on a project that aims at identifying mechanisms for meaningful transparency and creating a descriptive typology of ADMs.

Prior to joining the Institute, Silvia she completed her PhD at the University of Warwick and studied at the Centre for Culture Studies, Goldsmiths College. She has worked as a culture writer and in various art and culture institutions in public engagement.
